Hand Written: A Community Journal Event, Dec. 12

On Thursday, December 12, at 7:30 p.m., (SCENE) Metrospace is hosting an event created by local resident Khalid Ibrahim called "Hand-Written." The event has been designed to celebrate communication, connecting with people who live around us, and a traveling journal that has passed through many hands.

This event is free and open to the public.

A little food, music, and shared stories will be provided. At the end of the event, two new journals will begin to take their own paths around the city.

Khalid writes: "Since January of 2012 a journal was passed around Lansing, and when pen met paper people unleashed their thoughts on its pages. Some people left drawings, one person painted the cover of the journal, one contributor wrote their favorite recipes and others wrote poetry. As a final product, this journal is owned by a community and has a special place in many people's hearts.  It is often that we meet other people who live around the area and have short twitter-like conversations, but these quick conversations overlook the really important things that are going on in our lives."
