Jordan native Hana Malhas is a new figure on the Ann Arbor music scene with a borderless indie folk sound. Malhas’ songs explore the personal with fearless vulnerability in a style that is Sarah McLachlan-meets-Bon Iver. Crafted in four recording locations, with 17 American and Jordanian artists over two time zones and 6,000 miles, Malhas’ debut album, “Shapeshift,” was released in March 2010. www.hanamalhas.com
Dastardly is a Chicago-based Americana/indie band. They have been described as one of the more eclectic and interesting bands on today’s local Chicago music scene. Dastardly released their debut album, “May You Never…,” in 2010. www.myspace.com/dastardlytheband
Steven Leaf is a Chicago-based singer/songwriter returning to his old stomping ground of East Lansing for the May 21 show. Born and raised in Michigan, Leaf began his musical journey in the fifth grade with drum lessons. He soon moved on to guitar and shortly after began writing songs. Leaf recently released his debut album, “We Are Ghosts.” www.steveleaf.com
