(SCENE) is nearly giddy with anticipation for the new Plurals CD, "Whatevers Forever." Lovingly recorded by former Calliope bassist Eric Merckling, the disc boasts a number of fresh takes on setlist staples from the Plurals dynamic live show, as well as a few surprises. "Whatevers Forever" drops at this special performance, with additional performances by Cheap Girls and Jason Alarm.
Lansing's own Cheap Girls (who are neither girls, nor cheap) will perform their exciting brand of power pop on the heels of this spring's accomplished "Buy Me A Drink Home" CD. The band could nearly be described as a Lansing supergroup, if it weren't for the fact that they aren't resting on any laurels -- they're delivering a caffeine rush of original songs in their own, unique way.
Kicking off the evening, Jason Alarm is ahead of their years with a musical ethic that promises great things to come. Hand-picked by the Plurals to round out this evening of local music, this Grand Ledge-based 4-piece performs an energetic, punky live show with hints of the dreaded S-word: ska.
