The Secrets of Glue


(SCENE) Metrospace will open our new exhibit, "The Secrets of Glue: Exploring Collage and Assemblage" on Saturday, October 27, with a public reception from 6-9 PM. The exhibit, curated by Julie Thomson (founder of the collage 'zine La Colle, www.lacolle.blogspot.com), features eighteen artists whose work breaks the glue bond and advances collage, assemblage, and found object/image techniques into contemplative, socially conversant, or technological realms.

Featured in the exhibit are Lansing-area artists Trevor Benoit, Aaron Curtner, Norbert Freese, Alex Nichols, Kelly Salchow, and Michelle Word; Richmond, VA-based sound artist Ben Gaydos; Ann Arbor-based artist Matthew Thomson, sound artist Christopher Petersen, and artists Amanda and Joel Wyse; Grand Rapids-area sculptor Spider; Chicago-area artists Ryan Swanson and Regina Mamou; Berkeley, CA-based artist John Tanghe; Detroit-based artist Ben Blackwell; Portland, OR-based artist Liz Cohn; and Brooklyn, NY-based artist Fred Thomas.

October 27's evening reception unveiling the exhibit will feature collage-inspired musical and multimedia performances by Kristen Von Bernthal and djtor2
