The Expense of Learning: a film screening

Saturday, August 10th, 8 p.m., free.

A film screening of "The Expense of Learning," directed by Christina Strong.

The Expense of Learning: a documentary about the rising cost of a college education is a film that tells the stories of four students that are struggling to finish their college education in the midst of rising tuition. The film includes interviews with officials, such as state representatives, the executive director of the Michigan College Access Network, a reporter from Bridge Magazine among others as they discuss the steady four to seven percent increase in tuition every year and the staggering $1 trillion student loan debt problem in America. The Expense of Learning shows the problem with today's higher education environment: tuition is rising and students are leaving!

"I thought the documentary was eye opening. It reveals other aspects of the college world that we tend to overlook." James Regan II, senior at Michigan State University
