Community Dance Project began 11 years ago when Matt Bebermeyer created an informal studio showing for dancer and choreographers who wanted to focus on experimental work. Beginners were paired with professionals so that the learning process would be rich. The shows were free and choreographers addressed the audience prior to each piece so that the work would be accessible.

The project went from 9 participants that first year to the wonderful celebration of dance that it has become this year: 30 choreographers, 70 dancers, 3 professional companies-in-residence (Happendance, SelbyDance New York, and Travesty Dance group Cleaveland), 7 venues and 10 different programs!

Produced by Lansing Community College and Happendance, it is an event that belongs to everyone. Don't miss it!
