Bridges Open Mic

Bridges Open Mic is presented by The HerStories Project on November 22, from 7:00pm to 8:30pm at (SCENE) Metrospace, 110 Charles Street, East Lansing, Michigan. The cover is $3.

The written and spoken-word open mic bridges Transgender Day of Remembrance (Nov. 20) and the international campaign 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence (Nov. 25 – Dec. 10). The program celebrates gender expression; challenges militarism and gender violence; and honors Trans gender and Two Spirit voices. The event features lesbian poet Bobbi Byrd from Osseo, Michigan. Emcees are community organizer-advocate Jeffrey Franckowiak and poet Melissa Dey Hasbrook. Partners include Capital Area Response Effort (C.A.R.E), Center for Poetry (RCAH at MSU), MSU Amnesty International, MSU LBGT Resource Center, MSU Sexual Assault Program, NorthStar Center, and the Peace Education Center.
