We
interact with the materiality of fiber on a daily basis, whether hand or
machine made. The richness that fiber work creates is seen through the ease in
which viewers can relate to its tactile quality. Beyond the material, the techniques
employed provide another layer for a viewer to enter.
We
are happy to bring this exhibition to (SCENE) Metrospace. Beyond Material is
guest-curated by Kate Garman. Kate is a Grand Rapids based creative. This is the
exhibition’s second incarnation. Many new artists have been added. The inaugural
exhibition opened during January 2014 at Grand Valley State University's Padnos
Art Gallery.
