EAST
LANSING, Mich. - (SCENE) Metrospace, 110 Charles St., will host an all-ages
concert on Friday, March 22nd, featuring Joshua Davis with special guests Laura
Bates, Jen Sygit, Mike Lynch and Geoff Lewis.
The doors will
open at 7:00 p.m. and music will begin at 8:00 p.m. General admission is $10 at
the door.
The Friday show will celebrate the release for
Davis's new CD, "A Miracle of Birds," inspired by last year’s 5-day,
129-mile marathon in the West Bank. In February, he traveled to Palestine and
Israel with nonprofit organization, On the Ground, to participate as
"cultural emissary" in a fundraising journey to support fair trade
farming communities in the West Bank.
Davis’ album, “Miracle of Birds,” was inspired
by his experience in the Holy Land. Half of the proceeds will go toward olive
trees and educational scholarships for the farmers and families he encountered
during his travels. The songs are deeply personal and deal with his struggle
between his Jewish identity and the oppression and confusion he found in the
Middle East.
(SCENE) Metrospace is
East Lansing’s City-funded contemporary art gallery and performance space. It
is located at 110 Charles St. in the colorful Division Street parking
structure, next door to Georgio’s Pizza. Contact Tim Lane at scenemetrospace@gmail.com or visit www.scenemetrospace.com for more information about the space.
Regular gallery hours are Thursdays from 2-5 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays from
