Call-For-Artists: Rock Poster Exhibit

EAST LANSING, Mich. - East Lansing's alternative art space, (SCENE) Metrospace announces a call-for-proposals for an upcoming exhibit based on the art of the contemporary rock poster.

(SCENE) presents an in-depth investigation into a unique artform that has evolved rapidly since the halcyon days of the 1960s, when artists like Rick Griffin, Stanley Mouse and Alton Kelley, and others brought the medium of music posters into the fine art realm.

The exhibit will be juried by Lansing-area designer Chris Van Wyck, whose signature posters have become a fixture of arts- and community-oriented events for nearly two decades. Van Wyck is a Senior Creative Director at award-winning Lansing-based design firm Ciesa and Associates, and also serves as a visiting instructor of Graphic Design at Michigan State University.

Poster artists of all types are invited to submit current, original works for this juried exhibit. The exhibit will take place from September 7, 2007 through October 21, 2007. All entries are due Monday, August 13 (or post-marked Friday, August 10).

Please include a current artist's biography and resume with all submissions. Submissions are limited to ten poster designs per artist. Submissions may be sent as .jpegs or .gifs, either on a CD mailed to the address below, or e-mailed to scenemetrospace@gmail.com.
